This photo is a great showcase of forced perspective. It is a technique that employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. It is used primarily in photography, filmmaking and architecture. It manipulates visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera. The Moon has been a popular topic for a lot of these forced perspective” pictures and the example below is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoyed it as well and if you think you can do better, then please submit your own pictures by hitting the “submit your illusion” button on the top of this site.
